Junior shortstop Sydney Romero went 4-for-4, hit for the cycle and led Vista Murrieta over the Golden Bears 12-1 in opening Southwestern league play Tuesday. Romeo singled, doubled, tripled and homered, scored four times and knocked in four runs in the victory. Vista Murrieta Coach Dan Torres named her player of the game.
Temecula Valley would score their only run the first inning. It was all Broncos after that. Vista Murrieta tied it in their half of the first and then went ahead in the third with a four run rally. The Broncos would score two more in the fourth, three in the fifth and their final two runs in the sixth when the game was called.
Senior Selina Ta’amlio was 2-for-4 with a double, home run and three RBIs for Vista Murrieta. Sophomore Tristen Edwards went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Freshman Sara Lillie doubled in two runs for the Broncos.
The victory improves the Broncos to 13-4 overall and 1-0 in league. Temecula Valley is 6-9 and 0-1 in league. The two teams face off again tomorrow at TVHS at 3:30pm.
