MENIFEE – The Menifee Valley Upper Division Senior Softball (MVUDSS) league has recently completed another successful season of highly competitive, well-balanced, tournament-style play. The fall 2012 season consisted of eight regular season games followed by a double-elimination tournament.
The regular season ended in a tie for first place with only two games separating the first and last place teams. The Silver Bullets and Code Blue teams both with 5-3 records met in a single playoff game in which Silver Bullets emerged victorious to capture the league title.
In the tournament portion, however, Code Blue went undefeated through the bracket play with a victory over Dead Red in the finals to win the tournament championship.
MVUDSS league games are played on Monday mornings at either the Big League Dreams Sports Park in Perris or at Wheatfield Park in Menifee. Tournament-caliber players who will be 55 years of age or older in calendar year 2013 are eligible to play in the spring 2013 season.
The league consists of players and teams from the Temecula Valley, Hemet, and North San Diego County areas. Out-of-area teams have the option of playing once a week or playing bi-weekly doubleheaders.
League President Steve Baranick said, “The quality of play that our league provides continues to attract more and more highly skilled players. As this trend continues we hope to have enough teams to allow us to play two days a week. We do expect to be adding at least one more team in the spring.”
The spring 2013 season starts on Feb. 18 and will run through the end of June. Players and teams interested in participating should contact Steve Baranick at (951) 677-0428, [email protected] or visit the league website at mvudss.weebly.com.
