The Nighthawk’s Ben Mora shuts out Temecula Valley 9-0 – Murrieta Valley crawls back into a Three Way Tie for Second Place

Ben Mora threw a three hit shutout against the Golden Bears and kept the Nighthawks in the chase for a CIF-SS Playoff spot Tuesday. The senior struck out two and got plenty of help from the Murrieta Valley defense.

Slumping Temecula Valley lost their fifth straight game as the once league leading Golden Bears dropped into a tie for third place with the Nighthawks and are now scrambling to stay in the playoffs. The first three teams in the league have automatic playoff berths.

The Nighthawks scored two runs in the first, another in the third before exploding for five in the fifth to put the game away. Murrieta Valley would score one more in the sixth and the game ended 9-0.

Kevin Padlo scored three of the Nighthawk runs against the Golden Bears. James Schmidt had a hit, scored and drove in two. Aaron Shackelford also doubled in two runs for Murrieta Valley.

Alec Garrett, AJ Sawyer and Nick Juhl were the three Golden Bears to get a hit against Mora.

The Nighthawks will travel to Temecula Valley Thursday for the final game of the regular season. Game time is 3:30.
