Translate this page Friday, December 7th, 2007. Issue 49, Volume 11. The Temecula Valley Wine Society has allocated $13,000 to the Nancy Johnston Memorial Scholarship program. The scholarships were given to juniors, seniors and graduate students majoring in enology, entomology, viticulture or wine marketing at California universities. Grade point average, along with financial need, school and community involvement, work experience and post graduate goals were taken into consideration. Leilani Christine Carrara received a $3,000 scholarship, and is working on a bachelor’s degree in agribusiness, wine business at Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo. Leilani also works as a teaching assistant at the university as well as tasting room attendant at a local winery. Joe L. Castaneda received a $3,000 scholarship, and is working on Advertisement Wynne Peterson-Nedry received a $3,500 scholarship, and is working on a graduate degree in viticulture and enology at University of California, Davis. Wynne is currently performing research on tannins in wine. Elissa Star Wampler received a scholarship of $3,500, and is working on a graduate degree in entomology at the University of California, Riverside. Elissa is performing research on the blue green sharpshooter, the causative agent of Pierces’ disease of grapes in California, especially the Temecula area.

I am sure that all the recipents are very deserving but the research being done by Ms Elissa Wampler seems to have the most releventcy to Temecula Valley viticulture. Good Article |
