CORONA - A man who died when his pickup truck swerved off a freeway interchange and struck a tree in Corona was identified today as a 43-year-old Norco resident.

James R. McCracken was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which was reported shortly before 5 a.m. Monday on the westbound Riverside (91) Freeway interchange with the Ontario (15) Freeway, just west of Promenade Avenue, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Sylvia Mosley.

His Ford, F-350 traveled across a grassy swatch before hitting the tree, Mosley said.

CORONA - A motorist was killed today when the pickup truck he was driving crashed on a transition road from the westbound Riverside (91) Freeway to the northbound Ontario (15) Freeway in Corona, authorities said.

The crash occurred shortly before 5 a.m., said California Highway Patrol Officer Jackie Parent.

The transition road was blocked while crews worked to clear the scene, a closure still in effect two hours after the crash, Parent said. The motorist was alone in the pickup at the time of the crash, she said.
