LAKE ELSINORE – The third annual City Pageant for the cities of Lake Elsinore, Wildomar, and Menifee was held on Saturday, April 14, at Canyon Lake Middle School in Lake Elsinore. Southwest California Pageants conducts the annual scholarship pageant on behalf of the cities.

Girls and unmarried women up to the age of 21 compete in nine age divisions for the opportunity to represent their respective cities at various city, chamber of commerce, community, and charitable functions. Contestants must reside or attend school in the city in which they wish to represent. The pageant is conducted at no cost to the cities.

The evening pageant, which includes three Teen Divisions and the Miss Division, began with an opening dance number performed by the outgoing 2011 City Queens and pageant contestants. The contestants participated in sportswear and evening gown competition, followed by an on-stage question. That, in addition to in-depth personal interviews conducted earlier in the day, determined who would be selected as the new City Queens for the ensuing year. The Children’s City Pageant which includes girls through age 10 was held earlier in the day.

"The young women and girls selected today as 2012 City Queens will serve as good will ambassadors for their cities and take on the responsibilities of being a role model to their peers," said Southwest California Pageants Director Anne Bowman. "SWC Pageants emphasizes community service as a way of building leadership skills and self confidence. We want these Advertisement
