City of Murrieta announces application period for District 5 City Council seat

Murrieta - The City of Murrieta will begin accepting applications for an upcoming City Council vacancy in Murrieta’s fifth district Sept. 27. Mayor Scott Vinton recently submitted his formal resignation from his role on the Murrieta City Council and at the September 21,  City Council meeting the Council voted to fill the vacancy through an appointment process.Vinton’s resignation will become effective December 21, 2021, fulfilling his tenure as Mayor. His resignation will create a vacancy for the remainder of his City Council District 5 term, which ends in December 2022. Vinton was first elected to represent City Council District 5 in November 2018.Murrieta City Manager Kim Summers expressed her appreciation for Mayor Vinton’s dedicated service to the residents of Murrieta.
