Hemet accepts American Rescue Plan and state recovery funding with a standard allowance

The Hemet City Council voted to accept the $21,674,344 American Rescue Plan-Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund and a $10 million standard allowance at its Tuesday, Jan. 25, regular meeting held via teleconference.The acceptance of the federal and state money must be used to directly align with the city’s adopted Strategic Plan and the final U.S. Treasury rules for its distribution. During the council meeting, it was noted that in recent surveys made of the city’s departments, police and fire and from residents, there was $31 million in requests for ARPA and State and Local Fiscal Recovery funds.“Obviously, these must be paired down,” council member Russ Brown said.
