Jurupa Valley brush fire grows to 250 acres

JURUPA VALLEY (CNS) - A wildfire in Jurupa Valley was 50% contained today after burning 250 acres, officials said.The fire was reported at 3:09 p.m. Saturday near Sierra Avenue and Karen Lane, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.Low humidity, westward winds of 17 mph and temperatures in the 90s helped to fuel the fire, which was burning in light grass.Riverside County sheriff's deputies closed Sierra Avenue from Armstrong Road to the San Bernardino County line.Cal Fire Riverside was working with the San Bernardino County Fire Department in a unified command structure, officials said.
