MURRIETA – In an exhilarating Southwestern League showdown on Tuesday, March 12, the Vista Murrieta Broncos fell to the Murrieta Mesa Rams 7-4 in their home conference game. The Rams set a relentless pace, igniting the lights of the scoreboard in the first inning, and steadily building their lead throughout the afternoon. Despite a valiant effort, the Broncos were left chasing shadows as the Rams capitalized in successive innings.
Murrieta Mesa (13-2, 4-0) took the lead with a single run in the first, consolidating their advantage with three more in the second off a Lilly Hauser 3-run blast, followed by a consistent performance that saw them score in the fourth and sixth innings.
Vista Murrieta (4-4, 1-1) answered back in the latter half of the game when Mia Powell launched a three-run homer of her own in the fifth inning, briefly igniting hopes of a Broncos resurgence. However, the initial momentum gained by the Broncos’ spirited fight was mitigated by three costly errors.
The game saw impressive individual performances, notably by Hauser. Not only was she successful at the plate, but she also triumphed on the mound, achieving nine strikeouts in the complete game win. Victoria Prado, Paige Bambarger, and Macy Clark contributed valuable RBI’s, with Bambarger also notching a stolen base for the Rams.
The Broncos are poised for redemption as they confront Chaparral (2-7, 1-2) in a conference game on Thursday, March 14. Both teams are ready to emerge from the middle of the pack as they clash, bearing contrasting records into the contest. Simultaneously, Murrieta Mesa now prepares to face off against Great Oak (3-3-1, 2-0), who are also undefeated in Southwestern League play. This confrontation promises to be pivotal in shaping the League standings. Game times are set for 3:30 p.m.
