1 killed, 1 wounded in Riverside shooting

RIVERSIDE (CNS) – One person was killed and another was wounded in a shooting in Riverside early Saturday morning.

Officers responded to an assault-with-a-deadly-weapon call at about 1 a.m. in the 6900 block of Lincoln Avenue, where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Riverside City police Officer Ryan Railsback.

First responders performed life-saving measures on the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers later found out that a second man was also shot and taken to a hospital by acquaintances. He is in stable condition, Railsback said.

Investigators believe there was a party going on at the location when the shooting took place, he said.

The names of the victims were withheld and detectives are working to identify a suspect.

Lincoln Avenue between Mary and Washington streets was closed while police conducted the death investigation.

It’s the second fatal shooting in Riverside to be reported in the last few days. Around 10 p.m. Thursday, two people were shot in the area of 14th Street and Park Avenue. One victim died and the other survived in Thursday’s shooting as well.
