Riverside University Health System reported 710 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday and one new death throughout the county. In all, 48,200 have tested positive for the virus and 913 people have died since the county began recording data back in early March.

The county reported 574 people have recovered from the virus overnight, while there were four more people hospitalized — a total of 300. There are 89 people being treated in ICUs for the virus, one fewer than the day before.

The county reported that there were 359 confirmed cases in county jails and another 1,552 cases recorded in state prisons within the county. Those numbers show an 18 case jump in jails and 17 cases increase overnight in prisons.

The county reported that 466,977 have been tested so far, 4,484 more than the day before.

Locally, Temecula added 22 new cases (862), Murrieta added 24 (960), Wildomar added eight (465), Lake Elsinore added 19 (995), Canyon Lake added one (77), Menifee added 13 (1,127), Hemet added 25 (1,388), and San Jacinto added 18 (945).

The number of known active virus cases countywide is 21,782, an increase of 1,107 from Monday. The active count is derived by subtracting deaths and recoveries from the current total — 48,200 — according to the County Executive Office.

The doubling time — or the number of days in which documented virus cases increase 100% — is 38 days. A doubling rate of seven days is considered severe.
