All voters to receive mail-in ballots for State Senate special election
TEMECULA (CNS) - Gov. Gavin Newsom today signed an executive order requiring all voters in the 28th Senate District receive a vote-by-mail ballot for the May 12 special election in an effort to protect public health and safety during the coronavirus outbreak. The order also authorizes and encourages election officials to make in-person voting opportunities available on or before Election Day.
Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez, R-Lake Elsinore, will face Democrat Elizabeth Romero, a member of the Riverside County Board of Education and UC Riverside's chief government and community relations officer to fill the final 2 1/2 years of the term of former Sen. Jeff Stone, R-La Quinta, who resigned to become western regional director of the U.S. Department of Labor.
