Area wrestlers advance to CIF State high school wrestling championships

The CIF State wrestling championships will take place at Bakersfield’s Rabobank Arena starting Feb. 27, and featuring a good number of area wrestlers. Temecula Valley High School will have the most representation with five wrestlers advancing, Chaparral High School will have three wrestlers, Paloma Valley, Vista Murrieta and Hemet high school will have two wrestlers and San Jacinto and Citrus Hill high schools will follow with single representation. The championships run Feb. 27-29, and here is a list of boys from our area who have punched their ticket to this weekend’s state meet.

106 POUNDS: Ethan Perryman, Temecula Valley (second place).

113 POUNDS: Devin Avedissian, Temecula Valley (fourth place); Ryan Lobato, Chaparral (ninth place).

120 POUNDS: No area qualifiers.

126 POUNDS: Roman Carrillo, Paloma Valley (fifth place); Mark Quindoy, Chaparral (eighth place).

132 POUNDS: Manuel Gaitan, Temecula Valley (seventh place); Cameron Owen, Paloma Valley (eightth place).

138 POUNDS: Mark Takara, Temecula Valley (fourth place); Tommy Beringer, Vista Murrieta (sixth place), David Villa, Citrus Hill (eighth place).

145 POUNDS: No area qualifiers.

152 POUNDS: No area qualifiers.

160 POUNDS: No area qualifiers.

170 POUNDS: Ethan Gregg, Hemet (seventh place); Raquel Wagstaff, Vista Murrieta (ninth place).

182 POUNDS: Travis Wuerth, Hemet (second place).

195 POUNDS: No area qualifiers

220 POUNDS: Joshua Yocum, Temecula Valley (ninth place).

285 POUNDS: Arturo Ojeda, San Jacinto (second); Karson Martin, Chaparral (third)
