LAKE ELSINORE (CNS) – A pedestrian struck and killed by a car while crossing a Lake Elsinore street was identified today as a 63-year-old resident of the city.

Aldon Demara was fatally injured about 8:45 p.m. Saturday in the 31000 block of Riverside Drive, near Joy Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Sgt. Ray Ricken said Demara was crossing Riverside just west of Joy when he was hit by a Toyota Prius going westbound. The driver stopped and called 911.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene 15 minutes later.
The Prius driver, who was not hurt, was questioned by deputies but not arrested.

The investigation is ongoing, according to Ricken.
