CORONA (CNS) – A semi tractor-trailer rolled onto its side going southbound on Interstate 15 near Corona Monday, blocking several lanes and leaving the driver with minor injuries.
The crash happened about 2:40 p.m. on I-15 at El Cerrito Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The big rig hauling two trailers jackknifed in the No. 3 lane, completely blocking it and the slow lane. No other vehicles were involved.
Southbound traffic was severely snarled after the wreck, prompting the CHP to issue a SigAlert because of the congestion.
The trucker remained in the cab of his rig until Riverside County firefighters helped him out, according to the CHP. He was treated by paramedics at the scene, but it was unclear whether he required hospitalization.
As of 4:30 p.m., tow crews had righted the tractor-trailer and were preparing to remove from the freeway, according to reports from the scene.
The CHP was expected to re-open all southbound lanes by 6 p.m.
