MORENO VALLEY – The 14th annual Desert Valley All-Star boys’ basketball game was set to be played this week but was obviously scheduled before the coronavirus came into play. The game would have taken place at Rancho Verde High School Friday, March 27, at 7 :30 p.m. and 12 local high school players from the Temecula Valley were selected to represent the away and home team.
The away team, which would be coached by Ryan Towner (Shadow Hills) if a makeup date does happen, has a 15-man roster and includes Cameron Rentie (G, Murrieta Mesa), Brian Brown (F, Citrus Hill), Jordan Montgomery (PG, Murrieta Valley), Anthony Moorer-Bagby (PG, Perris), Jack Shultz (PG, Temecula Valley), Caleb Reilly (G, Great Oak) and Jayce Catchings (W, Rancho Christian).
The home team was set to be coached Jim Long of Valley View High School and included, among their 15 selected, local players Bryson Stephens (G, Rancho Christian), Jaden Haywood (W, Tahquitz), Jaylin McGee (G, Lakeside), Garret Schaefer (G, Temecula Valley) and Ethan Salyer (F, Chaparral. Thirty players were selected to play in the game that hopefully will still take place in the near future.
