10-acre brush fire contained near Anza

Firefighters were able to contain a 10-acre brush fire that broke out Thursday afternoon.

The blaze was reported at 12:51 p.m. near Cary and Tripp Flats roads, according to information from Cal Fire Riverside. The area — the same one where another brush fire was contained on June 26 — is due north of Cahuilla Casino.

Ca Fire Riverside first said the fire was at five acres spreading at a “moderate to rapid rate,” and multiple ground and air crews, including a helicopter and an air tanker, were responding to the blaze as of about 1:30 p.m.

The fire was estimated at 10 acres a little before 2 p.m., and Cal Fire Riveside said the forward spread of the blaze was stopped by about 2:30 p.m.

At 3 p.m., fire officials reported the blaze had been contained.
