Celebrate freedom, honoring veterans on Veterans Day

SAN JACINTO – The community is invited to attend a Veterans Day event acknowledging the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Services for their bravery, dedication and contribution to freedom. The daylong celebration will be held Monday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. at the Golden Era Golf Course, 19871 Gilman Springs Road, in San Jacinto.

Veterans Day is celebrated Nov. 11 every year, because it was at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 that World War I was officially ended. Originally called Armistice Day, the remembrance was changed to Veterans Day in 1954 and was set aside to honor all men and women who have served, whether in times of war or peace.

Organized by the Hemet Elks, Golden Era Productions and Authority Real Estate, the Veterans Day celebration will begin with bagpipes marching across the golf course toward the clubhouse, followed by the Sheriff’s Mounted Posse who will present the colors, a fly-over tribute and a display from the San Jacinto High School ROTC rifle drill team.

Veterans are invited to play golf for free. There will be two flights: one starting at 7:30 a.m. and the second at 1 p.m. Call Ted at (951) 350-8417 to book a flight.

A complimentary lunch will be served by Authority Real Estate.
