MENIFEE – The International City/County Management Association recently announced that Menifee was recognized for its innovative police recruitment efforts and awarded the city its first “Talent Initiative” Award. The Talent Initiative award seeks to encourage, recognize and share best practices in attracting and recruiting skilled talent, as well as developing and retaining quality talent and improving workplace culture.
The city of Menifee was awarded the ICMA Talent Initiative Award for its exceptional and outstanding recruitment process and overall workplace culture. The city’s marketing plan efforts ranged from email, website, social media platforms, engaging videos, web-based town halls, town halls, to human relations and overall style and department approachability with messaging. The collaborative effort includes multiple department support from the city’s municipal police department, human relations, economic development, information technology and finance departments and featured neighboring Murrieta Police Department. The overall recruitment process for the city of Menifee’s Police Department has been a successful initiative, receiving well over three times the amount of desired applications for both sworn and non-sworn positions surmounting to close to 2,000 applications for 75 positions.
“I am proud of the collaborative efforts of my colleagues, and neighbors, who all played an active role in our recruitment efforts,” police Chief Pat Walsh said. “Officers are people too, and we all want to be a part of a larger vision and workplace culture that has meaning and is supportive. I think we did a great job giving them a sense of why Menifee is a great place to not only call home, but as to why the city is recognized as a Top WorkPlace. We all are looking forward to July 2020, when the Menifee Police Department officially rolls out and begins serving the Menifee community.”
