Come shop Anza’s native plant sale

ANZA – Anza’s Native Plant Sale opens Saturday, Oct. 5, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in southeast Anza in Terwilliger at Dr. Gordon Pratt’s estate, 58650 Nickerson Road.

The annual event offers plants that are specifically grown to enhance local butterfly populations and can’t be found at the local nursery. Come and browse; plant prices start at about $8.

Attendees can stay for lunch and a tour; donations are accepted. Music will be provided by the MoZaiK trio. RSVP with Pam Nelson by Oct. 1, at

The plant sale will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. Lunch and music will begin from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The hourlong tour begins at 1 p.m., followed by the after-hours sale at 2 p.m.

Use these directions to the plant sale. Go east on state Route 79/Temecula Valley Parkway from Interstate 15 in Temecula to the intersection at Highway 371. Turn left onto Highway 371 and continue driving east past the “town” of Anza. Turn right on Kirby Road. Follow it as it changes names to Terwilliger Road and dead ends into Ramsey Road. Turn right as the road will go that way. In about a block, Old Terwilliger Road will be seen on the left. Turn left. It is a dirt road, and travel on it at least a mile until Nickerson Road appears on the right.
