RIVERSIDE (CNS) – Data detailing the compensation and benefits of Riverside County elected officials, administrators and other government employees was not published by the state because some of the figures supplied by the county were problematic, but officials confirmed today that the issue is being addressed and a resolution is pending.
“We’re working with the state and should have additional information on when the matter is expected to be resolved soon,” county Executive Office spokeswoman Brooke Federico told City News Service.
On Tuesday, the state controller’s office posted its annual “Government Compensation in California” report online, covering calendar year 2019 and listing public officials’ pay and benefits for comparative purposes.
Of the 58 counties statewide, seven were deemed to be “non-compliant,” including Riverside County. The other six were Humboldt, Mendocino, Plumas, Santa Barbara, Sonoma and Yolo counties, according to the controller’s web portal.
“The state controller’s team reached out to Riverside County staff several times by phone and by email for verification of some data, but they have not yet received a response,” controller’s office spokeswoman Jennifer Hanson told City News Service. “When we are able to verify those figures, the county’s ‘non-compliant’ status will be updated and the data added to the site.”
It’s the first time since 2010, when the compensation reports were first issued, that the county has received a non-compliant designation.
Federico said the county Department of Human Resources supplied information to the state on May 2, “but they were unable to verify their audit” of county documents.
With details still unresolved up to the time of the comp report release, the county was not included in the data tables provided at https://www.publicpay.ca.gov/. Fifty other counties and 469 cities are profiled. The City and County of San Francisco is listed as a city.
It was unclear exactly when the county’s information would be released.
