Dawn Smith named Menifee’s first Citizen of the Month for 2020

MENIFEE – The first Citizen of the Month for 2020, Dawn Smith, was recognized at the Jan. 16 Menifee City Council meeting. A Menifee resident since 1976, Smith was praised by each member of the city council during the presentation of her award.

“I can’t think of anyone who works as hard as Dawn does behind the scenes,” Mayor Bill Zimmerman said. “She never asks for any credit, but it’s time that she is recognized for all she does for the community.”

Smith has been a Menifee Rotarian since 1997, having served as president and currently as the treasurer. She is also an Education Foundation member at Paloma Valley High School and past chair of the Menifee Valley Chamber of Commerce. Ahead of the city’s incorporation in 2008, she served on the cityhood committee and is the founder of the Arts Council Menifee. She continues to be heavily involved with the Menifee Interfaith and Community Service Council, spearheading events for disadvantaged youth within the community such as Santa’s Workshop.

The city of Menifee extended a sincere thank you to Smith for her years of dedicated service to the community.
