MORENO VALLEY – Elsinore High School came out on top among 17 teams from 16 local high school teams to claim their fourth consecutive championship at the 37th Riverside County Academic Decathlon sponsored by the Riverside County Office of Education Saturday, Jan. 25, and Saturday, Feb. 1, at Vista del Lago High School in Moreno Valley. Hemet High School finished second and West Valley High School was third. Western Center Academy finished fourth and Great Oak High School was fifth overall. Hemet High School was the winner of the popular Super Quiz held earlier in the day. The theme for 2020 was “In Sickness and in Health: An Exploration of Illness and Wellness.” The first day of this year’s competition was Saturday, Jan. 25, and featured essay writing, speeches and interviews
