CalFire Riverside County Fire Department reported at 1:21 p.m. Tuesday that they were working to get a handle on a wildland fire near Scott Road and Pines Airpark Road in Winchester.

The fire was estimated at 3 to 4 acres with a moderate rate of spread in light, flashy vegetation.

At 2:30 p.m., CalFire reported that the fire was holding at 15 acres and aircraft have been released.

There were 12 engines, two hand crews, two bulldozers, two air tankers, and a helicopter fighting the fire initially.

There appeared to be structure near the area, but no word as to whether they were threatened. No injuries have been reported.
