MURRIETA — Friends of a Murrieta family that is dealing with severe injuries including paralyzation suffered by a motorcyclist following a crash on Sept. 9 are attempting to raise funds help the family cope.
Air Force Lt. Col. Tom Stottman and his family — wife Kelly and sons Kyler and Ryden —have lived in Murrieta since 1997 and Stottman served as the Director of Operations for the 729th Squadron out of March AF Base Riverside. He is a veteran of many missions including Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Deep Freeze, Operation Freedom’s Sentinel and multiple foreign deployments, according to the GoFundMe page organized by Linda Lunn.
“Kelly is a treasured member of the PTA Council for the Murrieta Valley school district and created the Valentines for Vets program that has generated over 150,000 handmade good will messages for our troops that have reached around the globe,” Lunn wrote on the fundraising page. “Their oldest son Kyler started college at Colorado State University in August and their youngest son Ryden is a freshman at Vista Murrieta High School.”
Stottman is currently undergoing rehabilitation, learning to live life without the use of his legs.
“Your donation will help to lift the burdens which follow as Tom and his family start their long road to rebuilding and adjusting to a new way of life,” Lunn wrote. “This includes helping to offset the months of accumulated medical bills and major home remodel costs to allow the Stottman Family to stay in their home while accommodating Tom’s needs.”
So far, the page has raised more than $40,000 of the $75,000 goal.
