RIVERSIDE (CNS) – Temperatures will remain hot throughout Riverside County to start the week and thunderstorms are possible Monday, Aug. 24 afternoon in the mountains, according to the National Weather Service.
High pressure will continue over the southwestern United States and keep temperatures in the triple digits in most areas through Wednesday, forecasters said.
High temperatures today are forecast to reach 112 in the Coachella Valley, 103 in the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning, 102 in Hemet, 100 in Riverside and Lake Elsinore, 96 in Temecula and 87 in Idyllwild.
Monsoonal moisture will bring a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms this afternoon in the Riverside County mountains, forecasters said.
Highs in the Coachella Valley will remain around 112 through Wednesday, then drop to 109 on Friday, according to the NWS. Highs in the Riverside metropolitan area are forecast to heat up to 104 on Wednesday before dropping to 98 on Sunday.
