As the new school year sets in and the upcoming high school girls’ volleyball season approaches, many local teams are gearing up to embrace the challenges ahead. With the recent release of the 2019 CIF Southern Section watch list, as selected by the Girls’ Volleyball Advisory Committee, the excitement in the valley is mounting.
Due to the increased popularity of the sport over the years and the many great clubs and training facilities in the area, competition is getting fierce, especially in the tough Southwestern League. Last year’s champs, Vista Murrieta High School, along with runner-up Temecula Valley High School are two of the top teams to watch. Murrieta Valley and Great Oak high schools are also established Division 1 and Division 2 powerhouses who have been gaining a lot of ground over the past few years and are always a tough match-up.
Over in the Sunbelt League, Elsinore High School, who is no stranger to success, is ranked in the top five of the Division 5 watch list, while Paloma Valley High School is ranked in the top 10 of Division 3.
Other local schools mentioned in the top 10 of their division in the high school girls’ volleyball CIF-Southern Section watch list as of Aug. 12 include:
Division 1 & 2
