HS Sports: Southern Section CIF winter sports poll updates

The high school winter sports regular season will be wrapping up by the end of next week, which means the race to make the playoffs is at its peak. This week’s updated rankings show quite a few local teams getting great exposure in their perspective divisions as the post season nears. The latest CIF Southern Section polls were released Monday, Jan. 27, as the Valley News Sports Department brings you some of the local area teams that have cracked the rankings:

Wrestling

The Dual Meet Wrestling Championships will be held at different sites starting Saturday, Feb. 1. There will be six brackets, minimum of eight teams and maximum of 16 teams, one for each Division. Due to smaller than anticipated participation, Division’s 1 and 2 are unable to be split. They remain together for Division 1; other divisions will be numbered 2-6. Pairings for all divisions will be announced Thursday, Jan. 30, at www.cifss.org.
