Injured hiker in Menifee rescued by helicopter

MENIFEE - A helicopter hoisted an injured hiker to safety today from a remote spot in Menifee. The injury was reported at 12:15 p.m. on a trail near Menifee and Simpson roads, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. The hiker, who had suffered a lower extremity injury, was rescued by a Riverside County Sheriff's Department helicopter and taken to an awaiting ground ambulance. No further information was released on the hiker's condition.
