The L.A. Monarchs girls’ baseball club will be hosting a free instructional camp for girls, ages 7 to 15, who are interested in playing baseball locally. Players will be instructed on throwing, hitting, fielding and base running. The camp will support “Baseball for All” and any old or unwanted baseball items are being asked for donations, which will go to the Assistance League of Temecula Valley.
Temecula resident Kate Weller, along with her father, Don, have made quite the push for the area to house an all-girls baseball program and the L.A. Monarchs answered the call.
“Girls can play baseball too, and we want to see how many of us there are in our area. You never know what can come of being on an all-girls team. One of us could play nationally for the All Women’s Team USA squad one day, just like Kelsie Whitmore does, who is also from Temecula.” Kate Weller said.
The camp will be held in Temecula Sunday, Nov. 10, from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Lunch will be provided. Registrants will be notified of the location of the camp once they are signed up online.
