LAKE ELSINORE – A Norwalk man has been arrested on allegations that he sexually abused a Riverside County child over a seven-year period, authorities said Tuesday.

The man, 25-year-old Guillermo Cuevas, was taken into custody Friday, Jan. 17, at his Los Angeles County home, Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Ray Ricken said. Cuevas is suspected of about 90 counts of felony sexual assault.

According to Ricken, deputies at the Lake Elsinore sheriff’s station received a report in November 2018 of lewd acts between an adult man and a 12-year-old child. That report was forwarded to detectives.

An investigation led deputies to believe Cuevas began sexually abusing the child seven years ago, when the juvenile was 5 years old. The abuse is suspected to have occurred at a home in Meadowbrook, east of Lake Elsinore, according to the sheriff’s department.

Cuevas is being held at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning in lieu of $1 million bail, online jail records show. An arraignment is tentatively set for 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Southwest Justice Center in French Valley.

The investigation is ongoing, Ricken said, and anyone with more information was asked to contact sheriff’s investigators at 951-245-3300.
