Lake Elsinore City Council approved the 2040 Dream Extreme plan with a 4-0 vote during its Tuesday, July 28, meeting.
The 2040 Dream Extreme plan is Lake Elsinore’s long-term plan to assist the city in pursuing its vision for the future. By looking at achievements of nearby cities, Lake Elsinore hopes to create a tangible change held together by three aspects to bring awareness to the city, Nicole Dailey, assistant to the city manager, said.
According to city staff’s plan, the city will be guided by anchors including the lake downtown and residents’ active lifestyles. The staff wrote a vision statement which said the Dream Extreme plan is to recognize Lake Elsinore as a destination where people can live, work, play and achieve goals. The plan contained strategies for the city’s progress, including appointing a lake manager, holding quarterly check-ins and obtaining additional grant funding.
“This plan is about capturing who we are today but also looking into the future at who we want to be in the next 20 years,” Dailey said.
The plan includes a living document that will change regularly according to the needs of the city.
“The pandemic has stopped us from visioning,” councilmember Natasha Johnson said.
The plan to improve the city has been in the works for years. In February 2013, the city council held a planning session and established their vision and key initiatives. A few years later in 2016, the city council hosted their first community satisfaction survey. The Dream Extreme plan is a living document that will regularly be changed to meet the needs of Lake Elsinore residents.
