Lanes, ramps to be closed along I-15 in Lake Elsinore beginning tonight

LAKE ELSINORE (CNS) – Traffic lanes on both sides of Interstate 15 in Lake Elsinore will be shut down periodically during the overnight hours this week to permit crews to re-pave shoulders on the six-lane artery.
According to the Riverside County Transportation Commission, alternating lane closures will begin about 8 tonight and continue until 6 a.m. Tuesday on north- and southbound I-15 at the Railroad Canyon Road Interchange.
All ramps connected to the interchange will additionally be shut down, RCTC officials said.
Identical closures are scheduled Tuesday night to Wednesday morning, Wednesday night to Thursday morning, Thursday night to Friday morning and Friday night to Saturday morning.
Detours will be in place for motorists trying to enter or exit the city at the interchange.
In addition to repaving shoulder space, crews will be erecting temporary support structures for upgraded on- and off-ramps, according to RCTC.
The $41 million Railroad Canyon Road Interchange Project got underway in May and entails expanding I-15 through downtown Lake Elsinore, as well as improving connectors, building sidewalks and adding bicycle lanes on the interchange.
The project is slated for completion in the fall of 2022.
