If your stress is getting to be too much, you will want to attend Dr. Pamela Winkler’s free workshop, “The Real Secret to Stress Management – Harnessing Your Subconscious Mind!” This popular workshop will be offered from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, in the Community Room at the Temecula Grace Mellman Community Library.
“We all have to deal with daily stress, whether we like it or not,” Winkler said, “But it is really easy to learn how to harness our inner mind to do it for us!” Dr. Winkler should know. She has helped more than 5,000 private clients learn to harness the power of their inner mind to overcome all kinds of problems.
Winkler is an educational psychologist who has simplified the process of “mindfulness” enabling anyone to better manage their stress, improve their health and increase their happiness. Winkler explained, “There is a lot we can do to improve our lives. One of the easiest ways is to learn how to manage our stress. It only takes a couple of minutes to learn the most effective technique to manage stress and feel back in control of your life. It is a technique I have personally used for over 30 years.”
Winkler’s workshop is based on her vast experience as a therapist in her recently published book, “Mind Medicine.” We accept the fact that “we are what we eat,” but we now also realize that “we are what we think.”
Winkler said, “People who are dealing with personal issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, chronic pain, insomnia, migraine headaches, asthma, phobias, memory loss, obesity, alcoholism, food allergies and many other emotionally based problems, can be very successful in resolving the root or real cause of a problem with the power of their own mind.”
Stress can endanger our health. According to AARP, there is abundant research that reveals a clear link between stress and disease. This includes our catching more colds and flu, gaining weight and experiencing slower healing. If every day stress is getting the best of us, it may explain the increase of more people suffering with chronic pain, sleep disorders, a weakened immune system and possibly the recent increase in pancreatic cancer.
Dr. David Agers wrote in his book, “The Lucky Years,” that science is learning how to wake up stem cells that function as though they are asleep, resulting in the body becoming convinced that it is getting younger.
“If the inner mind were to reinforce this natural replacement process with thoughts of vigor and vitality, I believe we could also counter the growing trend of dementia and Alzheimer’s,” Winkler said. “As our community of seniors continues to increase in number, it makes sense to focus more research on how the subconscious mind can slow down the aging process and even reverse premature aging.”
