LAKE ELSINORE – Local community health care center Vista Community Clinic Lake Elsinore launched a food distribution program earlier this year to help feed their patients in need. Started in 2017, Vista Community Clinic Lake Elsinore was opened in response to a growing need for health care services for the underserved communities in the area; they provide medical, dental and behavioral health services to all, regardless of income or insurance status.

As the health care center grew and became a larger part of the community, it became clear that there was a need for more than just health services. The issue of food insecurity among patients was brought to the attention of staff who said they knew they needed to act

They decided to dedicate the last Friday of each month to a food distribution hosted in front of the clinic from 8:30-10:30 a.m. The program started in June and is in its fourth month of distribution. Each month a steady stream of patients stop by to receive a bag of food. The center recently began adding a hygiene kit.
