Due to inclement weather, the softball game between The Creative Bar of Murrieta and 60 Grit Studios of Temecula was rescheduled to Sunday, Jan. 12. The game will start at noon at the Cal Oaks Sports Park, 40600 California Oaks Road, in Murrieta for a friendly, yet highly competitive game of softball. The softball game is about more than just fostering relationships and bragging rights though. The company owners, Justin Lawler of The Creative Bar and Gerry Marron and Jay Echeverria of 60 Grit Studios, want to make the game more meaningful.

Each company has selected a nonprofit organization based in Murrieta and Temecula and will donate a set amount based on who wins and who loses. The winner’s designated nonprofit will receive $2,500 and the losing team’s designated nonprofit will receive $1,000.

The Creative Bar has selected Oak Grove Center. Oak Grove Center is a nonprofit residential, educational and treatment center with multiple campuses for children throughout California with psychological, emotional and behavioral problems and special needs.

60 Grit Studios has selected Charity for Charity, a nonprofit organization raising funds to fulfill the wishes of local residents with life threatening illness or traumatic injury.

“We see this as a great opportunity to give back to the community and strengthen relationships with the people we work so closely with. We’re excited to play and are hoping that this will include more creative companies in the Temecula and Murrieta areas next year,” Marron said.

Lawler said he is equally excited.

“This is more than just a Murrieta versus Temecula game between friends and community members. It’s a fun, yet meaningful way to give back to amazing local organizations and also involve more of the community in doing social good. We hope that this is the start of a great tradition,” he said.

The softball game is open to the public with a concession stand open during the game for refreshments, and all proceeds will be donated to the designated nonprofit organizations.
