Prizes, games and other fun activities will welcome the whole family this weekend in Old Town Temecula as part of “Magic on Main.”
The three-weekend event – which began Saturday, Nov. 30, after Thanksgiving – is being organized by Gillian Larson, the “Survivor” star who is the organizer behind the annual Reality Rally held in Old Town Temecula.
Magic on Main is being held in the empty lot near Pennypickle’s Workshop Children’s Museum on Main Street. It features many activities like a prize wheel, a Christmas tree ornament decorating table, a coloring contest and more – all things that are aimed at families with young children, a demographic that Larson said is underserved in Old Town.
“The purpose of it is to give families with kids something to do while they are in Old Town,” Larson said.
Other attractions include live music and Christmas carolers, plus Santa at Pennypickle’s Workshop. National Charity League will have a gift-wrapping station set up, Larson said.
“We’re encouraging people to buy gifts in old town and bring them down to be wrapped for free,” she said.
All of the activities are free, except for a caricature table being run by Bigfoot Graphics, which Larson said has a “minimal charge.”
Attendees can make donations to Michelle’s Place Cancer Resource Center at the event as well.
Magic on Main was planned in partnership with the city of Temecula Community Services Department and is being run by about 30 volunteers, Larson said.
It is the first year for Magic on Main. Larson said she hopes to continue the event series, depending on this year’s turnout.
The remaining dates and times for Magic on Main are Friday, Dec. 13, from 6-9 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 15, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Glitz Cheer will sing carols from 10-11:15 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 7.
Great Oak Jazz Band will perform 5:30-7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 13.
