Man, 23, arrested for attempted murder outside French Valley home


FRENCH VALLEY – A man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after deputies found him with a firearm and a woman with gunshot wounds outside of a French Valley home late Tuesday.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at a home in the 34000 block of Shallot Drive, according to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Edmond Seltzer.

Deputies responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the area and discovered the man on the street in possession of a firearm, who was taken into ustody without incident Seltzer said. Deputies also found a woman with gunshot injuries, who was taken by paramedics to a local hospital, where she was receiving treatment for her injuries.

The suspect, 23-year-old Ryan Curtis, of French Valley, was booked into the nearby Cois M. Byrd Detention Center on suspicion of attempted homicide and child endangerment. He remained in custody Wednesday evening in lieu of $1 million bail.
