Man arrested during illegal marijuana grow raid at French Valley house

FRENCH VALLEY — A Garden Grove man was arrested Friday for outstanding arrest warrants from Orange County, the illegal cultivation of marijuana within a residential neighborhood, the felony theft of utilities, and possession of illegal drug paraphernalia (crack pipes) during a raid at a French Valley house on Friday, Dec. 20.

Thang Duc Tran, 48, was later booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center after investigators from the Sheriff’s Southwest Station Special Enforcement Team discovered more than 440 marijuana plants, in various stages of growth, which were seized.

“Additional evidence connected to the illegal theft of electrical services was also located and photographed,” Sergeant Jon Wade said. “The theft of electrical services was estimated to be in excess of $80,000 over a two and a half year time span.”
