Man struck, killed by motorist who fled in Hemet

HEMET (CNS) – A pedestrian was struck and killed Monday, Aug. 24 by a hit-and-run driver in Hemet, and police sought the public’s help to find the suspect.
The fatality happened about 2:30 a.m. on Domenigoni Parkway, near Warren Road, according to the Hemet Police Department.
Lt. Eric Dickson said the victim was either walking along the westbound shoulder of Domenigoni, or in lanes, when he was hit.
The driver accelerated away from the location, and another motorist came upon the victim lying on the north shoulder of the four-lane corridor, Dickson said. He said the witness called 911, and paramedics arrived within a few minutes, pronouncing the man dead at the scene.
“All that is known about the suspect vehicle is that it was dark in color,” the lieutenant said.
Domenigoni was shut down between Warren and Sanderson Avenue for four hours while a preliminary investigation was conducted.
Anyone with information about the hit-and-run was encouraged to contact the police department at 951-765-2400.
