Man suspected of groping female shoppers in Corona

CORONA (CNS) – A 25-year-old man suspected of groping two women in the parking lot of a Corona mall was arrested Wednesday.

Matthew Strazicich of Riverside was booked into the Robert Presley Jail on suspicion of sexual battery.

According to Corona police Officer Rozzy Rael, the first assault happened on Oct. 28 in a parking lot at the Crossings at Corona, near Grand Oaks and Tuscany streets. Strazicich allegedly touched a woman inappropriately while she was loading items into her vehicle, Rael said.

Last Sunday afternoon, another woman was also in the process of placing groceries in her car after leaving the Target store on the north end of the mall when the suspect allegedly approached from behind, touched her privates and fled, Rael said.

According to investigators, security surveillance cameras captured the alleged assailant speeding away in a silver Ford Expedition. Using the SUV’s license plate information, Strazicich was identified as the owner, police said.

Further investigation confirmed he was the man allegedly involved in both assaults, according to Rael.

Strazicich was taken into custody this morning without incident at his residence in the 3500 block of Banbury Drive.
