LAKE ELSINORE (CNS) – A 19-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting a fellow Lake Elsinore resident in a possible gang-related attack near the north end of the lake was being held Friday, Oct. 16 in lieu of $1 million bail.
Noah Arath Buenrostro was arrested Thursday and booked into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of murdering 21-year-old Gustavo Morales, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The shooting happened about 10 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of Quail Drive, near Joy Street, less than a quarter mile from the lake. Deputies were called to the location to investigate reports of a man down and discovered Morales dead at the scene, Sgt. Steve Brosche said.
He said gang task force and Central Homicide Unit investigators soon identified Buenrostro as the alleged assailant, though no other details were disclosed, including a motive.
The suspect was summoned to the sheriff’s Lake Elsinore station, and following an interview with detectives, he was taken into custody without incident about 8 a.m. Thursday.
