RIVERSIDE (CNS) – Monday is the deadline to register to vote in November’s election.
To be eligible to vote in an election, you must have registered 15 days before Election Day, which is on Nov. 3 this year.
Anyone can vote in November if they are a U.S. citizen and California resident, are 18 years old or older on Election Day, are not in state or federal prison or on parole for the conviction of a felony, and have not been found mentally incompetent to vote by a court.
According to the County of Riverside Registrar of Voters Office, residents can register in one of the following ways:
— Online at registertovote.ca.gov;
— Mail a completed voter registration form, which can be obtained by picking up a voter registration form at most government buildings or by calling 951-486-7200;
— In-person at the Registrar’s office or most government buildings.
To register online, you will need your California driver license or California identification card number, the last four digits of your social security number and your date of birth.
People who were previously registered in Riverside County and have not re-registered since they moved within the County’s borders can vote at the polling place for their new address or at the Registrar of Voters office. They will be asked to vote using a provisional ballot and provide their new address and previous address on the provisional ballot envelope.
All registered voters in California have been issued mail-in ballots, which will be counted if postmarked by Nov. 3.
Registered voters in Riverside County will be able to cast their ballot in person starting Oct. 31 at any of the county’s more than 120 voter assistance centers, which include the Beaumont Civic Center Gymnasium, the Blythe Community Center Banquet Room, The Shops at Dos Lagos, the Indio Public Library Meeting Room and the Outlets at Lake Elsinore.
Social distancing will be in place and masks must be worn while at the voting assistance centers. Additionally, voting locations will have separate lines for voters dropping off completed ballots.
