A 52-year-old Moreno Valley chiropractor suspected of inappropriately touching a woman at his office was out of custody Thursday, Sept. 12.
Dr. Sam Putres Khumooro of Eastvale was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of misdemeanor sexual battery. He posted a $5,000 bond and was released from the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside Wednesday.
According to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. William Stens, Khumooro first came to the attention of investigators in September 2018, when an alleged groping incident was reported in the suspect’s office at 23080 Alessandro Blvd.
Stens said the investigation hit a dead end, and the case was not submitted to the district attorney’s office.
However, the sergeant said, July 25, a second victim contacted the sheriff’s department, alleging Khumooro had made inappropriate contact during an office visit. Specific details were not provided.
Stens said detectives were able to obtain sufficient evidence to warrant an arrest, and the doctor was taken into custody without incident in Moreno Valley.
Anyone with information regarding the case was asked to contact the sheriff’s Moreno Valley station at (951) 486-6793.
According to the California Board of Chiropractic Examiners, Khumooro has been a licensed chiropractor since September 1998.
