MURRIETA – Safeco Insurance announced that Stromsoe Insurance Agency was named a 2019 Change Agent and was awarded $2,000 to donate to the Murrieta Rotary Foundation to benefit their 11th annual Field of Honor Ceremony Saturday, Nov. 9, to Saturday, Nov. 16, recognizing heroes – those who served or are serving in the United States armed forces, law enforcement, fire and other first responder posts, plus local heroes.

The Safeco Insurance Change Agents program recognizes independent agents who have made a difference through their volunteer efforts with local nonprofits in the areas of animal welfare, community safety, food insecurity, supporting troops and veterans, and education. Safeco said that small, everyday steps can have a big impact on local communities.

For the past seven years, the Murrieta Rotary Foundation and the team at Stromsoe Insurance Agency have partnered to increase awareness for the annual Field of Honor Ceremony. In their 11th year, the awarded $2,000 funds assisted with event expenses including the purchase of more than 2,000 flags for attendees to dedicate to personal heroes. The Field features sections for Medal of Honor recipients, local heroes for those who have given their lives for this country since 2003, historical flags, state flags and a patriotic chalk walk.

Based off the social media attention their charitable efforts garnered related to troops and veterans, Mike Stromsoe of Stromsoe Insurance Agency was one of two winners selected nationwide for a Change Agent award. Agents were selected by submitting photos of their volunteerism, from which 10 finalists were chosen by Safeco. A Facebook album was created on the Safeco Insurance page, and the public was invited to vote. The two agents who received the most likes and comments on their photos were recognized nationally as Change Agents.

“The Change Agents program recognizes agents’ passion projects to support causes and organizations that are meaningful to them,” Nancy Trejo, territory manager of Safeco Insurance Southern California, said. “These independent agents serve as trusted advisers to help people protect what matters most while impacting their local communities.”
