Since the Menifee Police Department finalized an agreement with the neighboring city of Murrieta to join its police department’s dispatch center, the recruitment process for new dispatchers and city police officers continues at a rapid pace.
The city plans to officially launch the new Menifee Municipal Police Department in July 2020, with that time fast approaching.
Murrieta’s dispatch center will provide dispatch services for Menifee’s new police department through July 2030.
Menifee police Chief Pat Walsh reports he has continued to see great enthusiasm throughout the department’s hiring process.
“I talk to candidates every day and am continually impressed by not only the quality of applicants we’re seeing, but the level of enthusiasm they express in joining our brand new department,” Walsh said.
Walsh has held online webinars where potential applicants can speak directly with him and ask questions. Two additional webinars are scheduled for Sept. 23, and Oct. 21, from 7-8:30 p.m. Interested applicants are encouraged to register at www.menifeepolice.org.
Professional civilian positions will also open in January, with the department looking to fill crucial support roles in crime analysis, record management and property control. All hiring is scheduled to be completed in April 2020 to allow for training ahead of the launch.
Walsh will also host one last “Chat with the Chief” Thursday, Sept. 26, at Mt. San Jacinto College, 28237 La Piedra Road in Room 3026. Residents are encouraged to attend to meet the chief, learn more about the future of the Menifee Police Department and ask questions.
