TEMECULA (CNS) – An 82-year-old bicyclist who was hit by a motorist while peddling on a Temecula street died at a hospital, authorities announced Monday, Oct. 5.
Kenrick Skinner of Murrieta was struck about 7:20 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Margarita Road and Paseo Brillante. He was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, where he died of his injuries about 4 p.m. Sunday, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Sgt. Joseph Greco said Skinner was attempting to ride across Margarita when the driver of an eastbound Toyota Corolla ran into him. The victim “crossed into oncoming traffic,” apparently, without having the right-of-way, though the investigation is ongoing, the sergeant said.
The motorist, who was not injured and not identified, immediately stopped and called 911, according to sheriff’s investigators, who asked anyone with information to contact the Southwest station at 951-696-3000.
