ANZA – Zimou Tan, associate dean of the Olivet School of Arts and Design at Olivet University, participated in the art competition and exhibition organized by the Idyllwild Art Alliance and won the “Best of Show” award for his oil on canvas painting, “Xia.”
The Art Alliance of Idyllwild is hosting its annual art exhibition “Celebrate” at the Courtyard Gallery, 26120 Ridgeview Drive, in Idyllwild from Aug. 10 to Sept. 30.
Judi Bowes, the judge of the art competition, presented the show winners at the artist reception Aug. 10, at the Courtyard Gallery in Idyllwild. Bowes said she was extremely impressed by Tan’s painting.
“I thank Idyllwild Art Alliance for hosting such a fantastic art event. I am greatly humbled to know that my painting won the ‘Best of Show’ award. I am thankful to God for giving me and OSAD this honor,” Tan said.
Tan is a graduate of the Academy of Art College in San Francisco with degrees in fine arts and traditional illustration. He said he is dedicated in fine arts education while running his fine arts studio business. He joined Olivet University as fine arts professor in 2015 and became the associate dean of the Olivet School of Art and Design in 2016.
Tan’s paintings have been exhibited at the New York Portrait Society Gallery, American Artists Professional League, de Young Museum, Asia Society of Arts of America, Pasadena Fine Art Museum and many others.
