RIVERSIDE (CNS) - Bands of rain sweeping through Riverside County today triggered flooding on multiple roads, which were made impassable and closed to traffic. The cold trough of low pressure lurching across the region produced downpours in the San Jacinto and Temecula valleys, as well as the eastern half of the county. Crews from the county Department of Transportation were summoned to trouble spots by California Highway Patrol officers and sheriff's deputies. At 1:30 p.m., heavy rain led to standing water on Bridge Street in Nuevo, and crews shut down a segment of the artery between Fernandez and Gilman Springs roads.
